MARILYN MONROE'S DEATH - 50 YEARS ON

Today - August 5 - marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Hollywood's most enduring sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe. To celebrate her life and legacy, here are some rarely published photographs of MM behind the scenes.

On location for River of No Return (1954) - the crutches are due to a sprained ankle suffered
when director Otto Preminger insisted she do her own stunts. She insisted her leg be put in a
cast, despite not being broken, allegedly to punish Preminger & make filming around her difficult!

Outtake from Marilyn's final shoot with Bert Stern. Marilyn would cross out images she
didn't want used on contact sheets with a magic marker. She hated this so much she's also
scratched it with a hair pin.
